Day 9: Brush Lettered Christmas Card

What you'll need

• Blank card
• Brush pens (I'm using the Pentel Brush Sign Pens)
• Contrasting pen - such as a metallic gold or glitter/metallic gel pen
• Pencil
• Circular template to draw around
• Eraser

Step 1

Using your pencil, lightly draw around your circular object in the centre of the front of your card blank. Don't press too hard as we will be erasing this later.

We now want all of our lettering to sit inside this circle - it's important to keep all details within the circle so it maintains its bauble shape. 

Make your lettering fill the space as much as possible by adding flourishes or expanded tail loops. Planning it out in pencil first helps us get this right.

Step 2

We now want to fill any gaps in the circle to help complete the shape, so you can add stars, flourishes, leaves, hearts, anything you like to fill the edges. 

Also add a top to the bauble with a string from the top of the card, and completely with a bow. 

Step 3

Now it's time to ink our design. Start off with the lettering - grab a brush pen and letter the wording in one single colour (this will help the lettering pop and not get lost in the other elements we've added).  

Step 4

Now grab your metallic pen, and ink in all the other items such as the bow and stars in the gaps.

Once it's dry you can then erase all of your pencil marks to reveal your final card.
