Day 2: Simple Brush Lettered Christmas Card

What you'll need

• Card blank
• Paints - I am using the Earth Metallic Finetec Ink Palette but you can also use watercolours, ink or even watered down acrylics. If you don't have any of these, you can also use a brush pen or glitter/metallic gel pens. 
• Paintbrush (I was using a size 2 round)

Step 1

If you prefer you can begin by lightly lettering your design in pencil first.

Start by prepping your paint to the right consistency. You want to make sure its fluid enough to get nice clean strokes - I like to think of it like a milk consistency.

Step 2

Load your paintbrush with your paint. Using a brush with paint works the same as a brush pen, we add pressure when moving down, and light strokes on the up. With this in mind, slowly paint each letter, reloading your brush as you need it.

Step 3

After finishing your lettering, water down your paint more and load this to your brush. Flick the end of the paint brush to add some small splatters across the front of your card for some extra sparkle.

Add some little stars amongst the splatter for the finishing touches.

Let your design dry before erasing any pencil marks.
