Day 1: DIY Calligraphy Wrapping Paper

What you'll need

• Brush Pens (of your choice. I recommend and use Pentel Brush Sign Pens, but if you prefer another brand you can use them!)
• Roll of kraft parcel paper or plain paper (sheets to be big enough to cover your gift)
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Eraser

Step 1

Start by cutting off some paper the correct size you need to wrap your gift.

Using a pencil and a ruler, create guidelines across the paper equally spaced apart (I set mine at 3cm apart). I also recommend doing these at an angle for extra interest.

Step 2

Lightly letter your wording in pencil, filling the paper. If you are using a repeatable quote like 'Merry Christmas', alternate the starting word on each line to stagger the words. For example, line 1 starts with Merry, line 2 starts with Christmas.

Step 3

Using a brush pen, ink over your pencil lettering. If you don't have a brush pen, you can use a sharpie or pen of your choice and either leave it monoline or do faux calligraphy - it's up to you!

I wanted one phrase to stand out on the front of the wrapping for added interest, so I used a contrasting colour. You could also add in an extra word like the recipients name too!

Once the pen has dried, erase any remaining pencil marks.

Wrap your gift and admire your custom wrapping! Your recipient won't want to rip it off.
